MINNEAPOLIS — Right-wing activist Edward “Jake” Lang appeared at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport on Friday after being released from the Hennepin County Jail, according to photographs and statements posted on social media.
A photograph attributed to activist Zak X shows the two men together inside the airport. Mercado Media reported that Zak X picked Lang up following his release and transported him to MSP Airport.
The National Correspondent Network has not independently verified the circumstances under which Lang was released or obtained an official record explaining why an out-of-state hold listed by the jail was removed.
Lang had been held following an Aug. 22 demonstration outside Minneapolis City Hall that ended with clashes, vehicle-related confrontations and multiple arrests. Minneapolis police initially booked Lang on probable cause of riot.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office later declined to file felony charges connected to that incident. Prosecutors said they could not establish the intent required under Minnesota law based on the available evidence involving communication and logistical coordination. KARE 11
The decision not to pursue felony charges does not necessarily prevent Minneapolis city prosecutors from considering possible misdemeanor allegations.
After the Hennepin County decision, jail records showed that Lang remained detained on an out-of-state felony hold reportedly connected to an active Texas case. Mercado Media subsequently reported that the Texas hold had been dropped, but NCN has not independently confirmed the precise court action behind that change.
Lang continues to face a pending terroristic-threat allegation in Collin County, Texas. Authorities there allege that he threatened Karmelo Anthony during demonstrations surrounding Anthony’s murder trial. A photograph of Lang at MSP Airport confirms that he was no longer in Hennepin County custody when the image was taken. It does not, by itself, establish his destination or the present status of every pending court matter.
