CASTLE DANGER, Minn. — A Lakeville man was killed last week after being struck by a cable while working on a cell tower in Lake County, authorities said.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded on July 15 to the area of Bunker Hill Road in Castle Danger after receiving reports that a worker had been struck by a cable during maintenance work on a cell tower.

The worker, identified as 31-year-old Eduard Shelipov of Lakeville, was transported to a hospital in Duluth, where he later died from his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been released.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation to determine what led to the fatal workplace accident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
