MINNEAPOLIS (July 20, 2026) — The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and four others injured Sunday evening in the 1800 block of Nicollet Avenue.
According to MPD, officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:20 p.m. on July 19.
Police located four injured men at the scene. A 43-year-old man sustained apparent non-life-threatening injuries. A 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hennepin Healthcare. The 28-year-old man later died from his injuries.
A 36-year-old man was transported to North Memorial Health with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Later, a 26-year-old man arrived at Hennepin Healthcare on his own with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Preliminary information indicates gunfire erupted outside a business, striking the five men.
Officers secured the scene while MPD Forensic Scientists processed evidence. Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
As of Monday morning, no arrests have been announced.
MPD also stated there is no known connection between this incident and the earlier multiple-person shooting in the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue South.
