MIAMI — Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday in Miami after British prosecutors announced new criminal charges and requested their extradition to the United Kingdom.
According to the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service, the latest case involves four additional alleged victims and includes charges of rape, sexual assault, arranging or facilitating sex trafficking, assault, and offenses involving indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. The new allegations increase the total number of alleged victims in the United Kingdom to seven.
Andrew Tate, 39, faces multiple additional counts, including rape, sex trafficking, assault, and child exploitation-related offenses. Tristan Tate, 38, has been charged with rape, sexual assault, and facilitating sex trafficking. The brothers have denied all allegations, and their attorney described the charges as false while stating they intend to challenge the extradition request.
The arrests are the latest development in a years-long international legal case involving investigations in the United Kingdom, Romania, and the United States. The Tate brothers also continue to face separate criminal proceedings in Romania related to allegations of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, which they also deny.
The brothers are scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate judge in Miami as U.S. courts begin considering the United Kingdom’s extradition request. If the legal requirements for extradition are met, the final decision on whether the brothers are surrendered to British authorities will ultimately rest with the U.S. government.
The case remains ongoing as authorities in multiple countries continue their investigations.
