MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Federal and local law enforcement officials have announced criminal charges against 25 individuals following a major gang investigation that authorities say targeted violent crime, drug trafficking, and illegal firearms activity across the Minneapolis area. The investigation was led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), and additional law enforcement agencies. According to federal officials, the defendants are accused of participating in criminal organizations allegedly responsible for distributing narcotics, possessing and trafficking firearms, and committing acts of violence. The charges include conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, firearms offenses, and other federal crimes. Court documents outline allegations involving cocaine, fentanyl, and additional controlled substances. Officials said the arrests are part of Operation Summer Heat, a nationwide FBI initiative aimed at reducing violent crime by targeting gangs, repeat violent offenders, and organized criminal networks. During a news conference announcing the charges, officials emphasized that cooperation between federal, state, and local agencies was critical to the success of the investigation. The agencies involved stated that the operation is intended to improve public safety by disrupting criminal organizations and removing illegal firearms and dangerous drugs from Minnesota communities. Investigators also indicated that the case remains active and that additional court proceedings are expected in the coming weeks. Authorities remind the public that criminal charges are allegations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
