MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating three separate shootings that occurred across the city early Sunday morning, leaving one man dead and two other people injured in a span of roughly 45 minutes. The first shooting was reported at approximately 1:00 a.m. after officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls in the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue. Officers located an adult man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Emergency medical aid was provided at the scene before the victim was transported to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died from his injuries. According to Minneapolis police, investigators recovered evidence of gunfire at the scene, including a firearm found near the victim. Homicide detectives and forensic scientists processed the area and continue working to determine what led to the fatal shooting. No arrests have been announced. About 25 minutes later, at approximately 1:26 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near Hennepin Avenue and Loring Avenue. Responding officers located a 15-year-old girl suffering from at least one apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers rendered medical aid before she was transported to Hennepin Healthcare for further treatment. Police say officers quickly developed suspect information and located two juvenile males nearby. A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody and booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on allegations related to the shooting. Investigators also recovered a firearm. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. Approximately 20 minutes later, at around 1:47 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of 4th Street Northeast after reports of another shooting. Officers found an adult man inside a nearby business suffering from apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Preliminary information released by Minneapolis police indicates an altercation in a nearby parking lot escalated into gunfire, striking the victim. After being wounded, the man ran into the business before emergency crews arrived. He was transported by ambulance to North Memorial Health for treatment. Forensic scientists collected evidence at the scene while investigators continued interviewing witnesses and working to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been announced in connection with this incident. Although the shootings occurred within a relatively short period of time, Minneapolis police have not publicly stated that the three incidents are connected.
