MINNEAPOLIS — What began as a felony warrant operation quickly escalated into one of the most significant law enforcement incidents in Minneapolis this week. Authorities say deputies attempting to serve a warrant near Nicollet Avenue and West 28th Street came under gunfire, triggering a massive response involving local, state, and federal resources. During the standoff, officials said a woman and child were inside the apartment and were safely removed as negotiators worked to resolve the situation. Investigators say the suspect later threatened to use an explosive device and shot down a law enforcement drone deployed during the operation. The standoff stretched for nearly eight hours before the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Minneapolis Police Department, FBI, ATF, and other agencies assisted with the response. No deputies, officers, or community members were reported injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
