🚨 NCN LOCAL REPORT Two-Alarm Fire Tears Through Bloomington Apartment Complex — Residents Rescued From Balconies BLOOMINGTON, MN — Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Monday morning at the Gables Apartments on the 9700 block of Grand Avenue South in Bloomington, rescuing multiple residents trapped by smoke and flames on the third floor. The Bloomington Fire Department was dispatched around 8:20 AM for reports of a fire at the three-story apartment complex. By 8:26 AM the incident was upgraded to a second alarm after crews reported active fire visible from a third-floor balcony.  Bloomington Fire Chief Ulie Seal confirmed that firefighters rescued four people from a rear window and helped pull several other residents off balconies using ladders.  One resident told reporters they were asleep when someone began yelling for help in the hallway. Opening their apartment door they immediately encountered heavy smoke filling the corridor. After shutting the door to keep smoke out they moved to their balcony where firefighters later rescued them using a ladder.  A Bloomington Police officer on scene reported one person sustained minor burn injuries. Mutual aid was provided by Richfield, Edina, MAC Airport, and Burnsville fire departments.  By 9:45 AM fire officials confirmed the fire was under control. Crews remained on scene to tackle hot spots and ventilate smoke from the building.
