🚨 NCN LOCAL REPORT MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A deadly early-morning crash in south Minneapolis left one person dead and a Metro Transit bus lodged into the front of a residential home Monday, just a few blocks east of George Floyd Square. The collision occurred at approximately 4:30 AM at the intersection of 10th Avenue South and East 38th Street, on the border of the Bancroft and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods. According to Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr, a pickup truck traveling southbound on 10th Avenue at a high rate of speed failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the eastbound Metro Transit bus. The force of the impact ripped a tire off the bus and sent it crashing into the front of a house on the northeast corner of the intersection. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus operator was transported to a nearby hospital with non-critical injuries and is expected to recover. Officials confirmed there were no passengers on the bus at the time as it had not yet begun morning service. No one was inside the home when the bus struck it. Metro Transit Police are investigating the incident.
