MINNEAPOLIS — The National Correspondent Network (NCN) has opened a formal investigation into Flock Safety, the company behind a nationwide network of automatic license plate reader cameras now the subject of growing public scrutiny.
The investigation, designated INV-349, will focus on a central question: who can access Flock data, and what stops it from being misused?
NCN's reporting will draw on public records requests, agency contracts and policies, audit practices, and field documentation of camera installations. As with all NCN investigations, findings will be published only when verified and documented.
The investigation comes amid widening national attention on license plate reader networks, including a U.S. Senate hearing held this week examining the privacy implications of the technology.
