MINNEAPOLIS — The 2026 midterm elections conclude on Tuesday, November 3, when voters across the United States cast the final ballots in races that will shape Congress, state governments, and local offices for the next two years.

What the midterms decide

Midterm elections fall halfway through a president's four-year term. This year, voters nationwide are choosing members of the U.S. House of Representatives and a share of the U.S. Senate, along with governors, state legislators, and local officials in races across the country. The results will determine the balance of power in Congress and in state capitols for the remainder of the term.

What Minnesota is deciding

In Minnesota, the top of the ballot carries a U.S. Senate race between Flanagan and Tafoya and a race for governor between Klobuchar, the Democratic candidate, and Demuth, the Republican candidate. Minnesota voters are also deciding congressional, state legislative, and local races. NCN will follow the statewide races and Twin Cities results as they are reported Tuesday night.

A record-pace early vote

Minnesota voters have already turned out at a record pace for a midterm election. More than 659,000 ballots had been cast statewide as of October 30, according to figures reported during the early voting period. Early voting in Minnesota runs through Monday, November 2. Polls close statewide at 8:00 PM Central on Election Day.

How the night unfolds

Results will be reported through the evening as precincts finish counting. NCN will publish results as they are confirmed by official sources and will call races only on those confirmations. Where counting continues, NCN will report what is known, attribute the figures to the officials releasing them, and clearly note what remains unconfirmed.
