ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. — A man was shot on Highway 100 in St. Louis Park on Wednesday evening, September 30, 2026, in what police describe as gunfire exchanged between the occupants of multiple vehicles.

According to the St. Louis Park Police Department, officers responded at about 6 p.m. to reports of a shooting near Highway 100 and Highway 7. Officers recovered evidence connected to the shooting and located a man who had been shot. Police described his injuries as non-life-threatening.

"The shooting appears to be between occupants of multiple vehicles," the St. Louis Park Police Department said.

The shooting forced authorities to close a stretch of southbound Highway 100 between Highway 7 and Excelsior Boulevard while investigators worked the scene, causing significant traffic delays through the west metro during the evening commute. The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that the St. Louis Park Police Department is leading the investigation, with state troopers assisting at the scene.

As of Thursday morning, police had not released additional information about what led up to the shooting, how many people were involved, or whether any suspects had been identified or arrested. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Unverified reports circulating on social media, including from accounts that monitor emergency dispatch traffic, claimed that roughly six shots were fired, that at least one vehicle was struck by gunfire, and that a 20-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle. Those details have not been confirmed by the St. Louis Park Police Department, and NCN is treating them as unconfirmed pending official word.

Authorities have not said whether they believe the shooting was targeted or whether there is any ongoing threat to the public.
