The two federal lawsuits filed Thursday on behalf of Renee Good now have case numbers, according to copies of the filed complaints provided to NCN by the family's attorneys.
The wrongful-death lawsuit against the United States is docketed as Case No. 0:26-cv-04230. The civil-rights lawsuit against ICE agent Jonathan Ross and other federal officials is docketed as Case No. 0:26-cv-04231. Both cases were filed October 1, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
The plaintiffs are Brent Ganger, acting as trustee for Good's next of kin, and Rebecca Good, Good's partner. The suits concern the January 7, 2026 fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, by Ross in Minneapolis.
According to the complaints shared with NCN, the wrongful-death complaint runs 32 pages and brings claims against the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The civil-rights complaint runs 149 pages and names Ross and multiple federal officials, alleging civil-rights and other violations.
A representative of the family's law firm, Romanucci & Blandin, told NCN in an email that the firm's Chief Communications Officer will reach out to NCN soon regarding press availability.
